firm leadership

Over the past 123 years, the leadership structure of O'Melveny has evolved to reflect both the growth of the Firm and the foremost organizational management standards and practices. The Firm began under effective sole governance, first by founder Henry O'Melveny and later by his son John, before adopting a Management Committee structure headed by a Chairman who was assisted by a Managing Partner.  At the start of the new millennium, the partnership recognized the need to modernize the Firm's governance structure in response to current and anticipated marketplace challenges. After careful deliberation, O'Melveny established an executive management team referred to as the Office of the Chair.  Currently, the Chair of the Firm and a Policy Committee head the leadership structure. The Adversarial and Transactions Department Chairpersons, numerous Practice Group Leaders, and the Office Heads comprise the rest of the leadership.
